Cubby Chronicles
Now I know this has taken a while to get the write up uploaded, but it takes me awhile to write this and my work does not necessarily give me time to get it done.
If you every want to try your hand at writting up your game, feel free to reach out and I'll send you the game sheet, and I'll post your recap.
Week 1
Game 1: Eve Mechanical 6 vs. VolpeAlcorn 1
And we’re off. The first game of the year was a bit of a blowout, with Eve Mechanical easily handling VolpeAlcorn.
Johnny Turbo opening up the scoring for the season, tipping home a Blake Culley shot. Turbo is definitely living up to his 69th overall pick. Spenny Wyatt had 1 goal, 2 assists, Eyskoot and Neilly both had 1-1 and Surfy 1-0.
Culley had 3 apples, Rookie Taylor Chick and Gav Spence had a solo assist. Neilly burned 2 of his 20 spares opening week.
Not much to say about VolpeAlcorn’s effort. Only scoring once week one does not bode well for the future. Dino had the only goal. A pretty nice shot beating yellow pads cleanly. Higgs and Craigie picked up points.
Game 2: Kemp Financial Group 7 vs. Good Neighbours 3
Kemp came out of the gate hot, picking up 3 first period goals. Brad and Brock did their usual thing, picking up 5 goals and 4 assists between the 2. Mitch (the only) Lebar picked up a goal and 3 apples, Val Borschevsky had 1-2. Ashton Waters, Diamond, Gannage and Jordan Schmidt had 1 assist each.
Good Neighbours struggled to get their feet under them but have the firepower to skat with the big boys. Jimbo and Iacono had 1-1, with Clayton Connor picking up 1 goal. Harry, Barre(tt)and King had apples.
Game 3: Krown Rust 5 vs Perry Rose 3
This game really had viewers head spinning. For the first time in known memory, Carson Devine dressed in a jersey other than Krown Rust orange. And fate had it, he had to face those jerseys in the first week.
Josy had 2 goals and an apple, Frank Zuccaro had 1-1 and Jesse Smith 1-0 for Krown. Favs, 5030 Jones, Hammer, Hogue and Seymour had an assist each.
Carson had 1-1 in the unfamiliar yellow; Joner and Kalpy had 1 G each. Tripper and Nik Borschevsky had 2 apples each, Wiser had 1.
Game 4: Four Star 7 vs. Chase Contracting 3
Everyone was wondering how new captain Ryan Littlejohn’s team would look. After week 1, I’d say they look pretty good.
Adam Waring and Ryan Dasilva both had 2 goal games, with JP Crescenzi 1-2, LJ 1-1, and Paulie 1-0. Banjo and Austen Jones had 2 apples each; Laner had 1.
For Chase Contracting, Justin Auger led the way with 2 goals and Cap’n Malone had 1-1. Tyler Currie had 2 assists; Gibber, Zavy and Lazzaro had 1 each.

Interested in joining our league?
For the 2026/27 season, the NMHL roster is currently full. For more information, please contact [email protected]
If you cannot commit to a team for the whole year, you can join our spare list. The spare fee is $20 per week and allows you to play multiple games.
League Rules:
1) Show up for the game. Pretty self-explanatory.
2) If you can’t make it, let your captain know.
3) Shower. Seriously. You are an adult. Don’t walk stinking.
4) Visit the cubby. As often as you can. You’ll be surprised how nice of guys we actually have in this league.
5) When it’s your turn, bring your share. It’s only fair.
6) Have a back up case. You’ll be a HERO.
Cubby Rules:
1) No girls
2) Make sure your team has drinks
3) Don’t drink another team’s last bevy
4) No girls
5) Keep it CLEAN. Every team should clean up their mess
6) No fighting
7) If you do need to bring a girl, make sure this is approved by cubby management.
Rememeber that the cubby starts immediately after the east coast game and will end once the last bevy is consumed. Your captain should have volunteered themselves to bring the first week. The weather looks fairly decent, but make sure to dress appropriately. Toques, mitts and boots don't make you a a wimp.
