Final Weekend March 13/14, 2026

Hi All.

It’s been a minute. It’s taken while to recover from Final Weekend. It is the best, but it is exhausting. Hope you have all been hard at work on your off-season training and will be ready for the 2026-27 season.

If you do not plan on returning next season, please let your captain or an exec know. We believe we are down 3 players but have a list the Falcon’s cock long. That is really long.

I would like to congratulate Krown Rust Control for all but sweeping all awards this year. They wrapped up the President’s Trophy, The Championship, Rocket Richard, Norris, Vezina and playoff MVP. That’s what I call domination.

Rocket Richard: Jamie McGinn – finally nice of him to finally breakthrough and show the promise we all saw in him.

Norris: Ryan Dasilva – as a spare, he was dominant. Last year, not so much. Looks like all he needed was an NHL star to play with.

Vezina: Brock Smusiak – can someone take his gear and run it over with a truck? I’m tired of looking up (and down) at him.

President’s Trophy – Carson pulled off some wild trades to pick up the best forward and D-man. Captain’s need to take note.

Championship – the Krown Rust Control team breezed through the first 2 rounds, before finding some push back in the finals. They persevered and came out as champs.

Playoff MVP: Jordan Tripp – was the MVP the NHL star? The fantastic D-man? Best goalie in the league? The top captain and apple picker? Nope. It was a plucky stay at home defenseman who eats pucks and doesn’t wear a jock. Congrats Tripper

PTMRTL:  Johnny ‘Turbo’ Townsend – What can we say about Turbo? Been in the league a long time. He’s willing to play any roll. Life of the party. Infectious grin. All around super dude. Congrats on being the “Player that most represents the league”. (we really need to come up with a better name.)

Interested in joining our league?

For the 2025/26 season, the NMHL roster is currently full. For more information, please contact newmarketmenshockey@hotmail.com

If you cannot commit to a team for the whole year, you can join our spare list. The spare fee is $20 per week and allows you to play multiple games.

League Rules:

1) Show up for the game. Pretty self-explanatory.

2) If you can’t make it, let your captain know.

3) Shower. Seriously. You are an adult. Don’t walk stinking.

4) Visit the cubby. As often as you can. You’ll be surprised how nice of guys we actually have in this league.

5) When it’s your turn, bring your share. It’s only fair.

6) Have a back up case. You’ll be a HERO.

Cubby Rules:

1) No girls

2) Make sure your team has drinks

3) Don’t drink another team’s last bevy

4) No girls

5) Keep it CLEAN. Every team should clean up their mess

6) No fighting

7) If you do need to bring a girl, make sure this is approved by cubby management.

Rememeber that the cubby starts immediately after the east coast game and will end once the last bevy is consumed. Your captain should have volunteered themselves to bring the first week. The weather looks fairly decent, but make sure to dress appropriately. Toques, mitts and boots don't make you a a wimp.

Shoutout of the Week:

The Shoutout of the Week goes to Neil Pickrell. He doesn't get the due he deserves, but works really hard to make sure the games go off without a hitch. He's at the rink every week, freezing his butt off all for you guys. Thanks PIck. We appreciate all the value you provide to our league!

Dick Duff's Organic Jerky Player of the Week:

The Team of the Year goes to Krown Rust Control. Not a lot needs to be said. They dominated the regular season. The trophy case. And the Playoffs. Hats off to you guys!
